      A versatile fruit in the kitchen but also in the pharmaceutical field

      The Quattrone farm is located in Reggio Calabria (Italy). Specialized, for over 40 years, in the cultivation of bergamot (D.O.P.)

      Our work is based on Organic Agriculture, cultivation that allows only the use of natural substances, that is present in nature, excluding the use of synthetic chemicals (fertilizers, herbicides, fungicides, insecticides, pesticides in general).

      In full respect of nature, therefore, within a development model that can last in time.

      It is tradition in time, pure passion and bond with our land.

      The company has 4.5 hectares: 25% of production is destined to the fresh market, the remaining percentage to the processing industry. 

      The bergamot of the Società Agricola Quattrone is harvested from the end of September/beginning of October to the beginning of February.

      The initial prospects for the coming seasons are promising and, considering all the variables, will reach a total volume higher than that of previous years.

      What awaits us for the coming seasons

      The two vintages prior to that of this year had been characterized by limited volumes and also by on average smaller sizes than usual.
      Until this moment of the new season, however, we can say that the productive performances are back to those of three or four seasons ago.
      The current harvests, moreover, are yielding very high quality fruits (internal and external). In the 4 hectares of the company, the breaks began at the beginning of October, waiting for the achievement of the right caliber and the right quality parameters. 

      Now with the commitment and dedication that have marked the Quattrone company in the last 40 years, we can only hope for an even more constant growth for the future.

      All the qualities of bergamot

      Bergamot juice is used in cooking to prepare fresh and dry pastries, sweets, candied fruit, ice cream and sorbets. It is also used to create soft drinks, cocktails, tea and liqueurs.

      It produces anti-stress effects and regulates the well-being of the person in addition to releasing melatonin naturally.

      More recently, thanks to extensive studies, active ingredients have been isolated that can only be found in bergamot juice. It has been found that the active ingredients prevent the production of cholesterol in the blood, reducing the level of total cholesterol, triglycerides and carbohydrates, providing beneficial effects also in the fight against diabetes.

      The essence of bergamot is used in the pharmaceutical industry for its antiseptic, antibacterial, antimicrobial, antifungal and antiviral properties. In addition, in surgical sepsis, dentistry, ophthalmology, gynecology, dermatology, so as to be included in different countries pharmacopoeias.

      1870 - The foundation

      The history of Torronificio Geraci can be considered emblematic of the wider history of family-run companies.
      In 1870 Michele Geraci, an apprentice in a renowned pastry shop in Caltanissetta, decided to start his own business and carry out his activity.
      It is the history of the garzonato, from which new productive activities are often developed and through which the most characteristic confectionery traditions of a territory are maintained. This is how the Torronificio Geraci was born.

      From the year of its foundation to the second half of the ‘900 the torronificio Geraci stands out as a torronificio that exports its products throughout Italy.

      2021 - the company today

      Today the Torronificio M. Geraci is managed by the fourth generation of Geraci.
      The priority is still the high quality of production, which makes use of local raw materials and original artisanal methods.

      The 2021, 150° years of the family business, sees us still at the forefront in managing production. The goal is to live up to the passion and commitment of those who preceded us.

      Prizes and awards

      The Torronificio Geraci takes part in the Salone del Gusto in Turin since the first edition and was the only Sicilian company to be awarded by Unioncamere.
      In the past, the company has also obtained an honorable mention as part of the Unioncamere Award 2007 – Section Long-lived and successful companies and a recognition of the CCIAA of Caltanissetta in July 2009.

      The Geraci nougat

      It’s a harmonious mix of three basic components: almonds, honey and pistachio.

      The ingredients are melted together thanks to many hours of slow cooking, with so much love and patience: so the masterpiece of nougat is accomplished.

      Once sealed it is good to keep it in tin boxes or glass jars, naturally away from sources of heat and moisture.

      Our nougat contains the smells and flavors of Sicily: the ingredients are strictly chosen from the best Sicilian production of almonds, honey and pistachios, whose nutritional and organoleptic characteristics are, by far, the best in the world.

      Masilicò: a precious ally of the food and wine tradition of Cilento

      It all started with an olive grove...

      Right in the heart of this land there is a young but dynamic company that was born from two brothers, Osvaldo and Angela Maria Pierro.

      They bravely launched into the agri-food sector and founded Masilicò. A company that researches, collects and sells the best products of Cilento in the world.

      Quality is the hallmark of this company by distributing only products that do not undergo industrial processes.

      Osvaldo explains how this passion was born: “from an olive grove of the family house”. Among those centuries-old trees was born the interest for this sector and for the traditions bells. The mission is precise: the search for the excellence of the territory of Campania. A way to sponsor this world heritage that is the Mediterranean diet. A longevity diet that never fails to be enjoyed on the table.

      That’s why Masilicò is also committed to recovering the traditions, telling the processing processes to enhance them. In fact, what is distributed is not a product but a lifestyle.

      We want to preserve the ancient flavors and in this way we also support small craft companies in the area.

      An oil to taste with everything

      The pride of this experience is the oil, symbol of the vocation of the Pierro brothers for the Cilento.

      “It is an aromatic and tasty oil that is mainly obtained from the pressing of olives of the varieties Pisciottana, Rotondella, Ogliarola, Frantoiana, Salella and Leccino.”

      This oil is the result of ancient traditions, especially as regards the phases of collection, transport and conservation.

      To benefit from the PDO brand, the olives are harvested by hand or with machinery that doesn’t damage the plants.

      Then they are pressed within 48 hours of harvesting.

      Cilento, how many excellences!

      Pasta

      The master artisans of Cilento pasta tell the art of ancient traditions for a sublime pasta. It is obtained from durum wheat semolina flour and is then extruded in bronze. This process makes it wrinkly and excellent for collecting sauces. Also maintains the nutritional properties of pasta.

      The Monterosso forest farm, one of the most representative of the Marches, with a centuries-old tradition, specializes in the organic cultivation of the oldest cereal in the world: spelt.

      He produces and selects on his own land, between the provinces of Ancona and Pesaro-Urbino, the purest variety of spelt, the “Triticum dicoccum Monterosso Select” of which he obtained from the Ministry of Agricultural Policy the Plant Seed Patent.

      It has a specialized plant for the transformation of the cereal, providing cleaning, peeling and beading, up to the production of 100% spelt flour obtained with a stone mill, ensuring accurate control of the entire supply chain.
