Clarea Wine
Clarea farm comes from the idea of three young entrepreneurs, driven by the desire of recovering and preserving Valsusa's old high-altitude viticulture's tradition. As a matter of fact, this tradition originates in Roman times. Throughout the centuries, Valsusa's winemaking tradition has gradually developed, and high-altitude viticulture pursued, with vineyards at 1000m above sea level. In 1999, traditional Avanà and Becuet's vines were for the first time planted on an area of 3 hectares; the structure utilised was that of ancient stonewalls' terraces. In the following years, other 2 hectares of vineyards were planted and local Piedmontese Dolcetto and Barbera's varieties were chosen. The exceptionality of Clarea farm is reflected in its respect of the surrounding environment, its targeted treatments and low environmental impact, its functional agronomic management system and its guyot pruning - which also enhance the organoleptic characteristics of the grapes. Thanks to the construction of the new winery in the Maddalena locality, it was possible to vinify Clarea's grapes with the most innovative technologies - thereby enhancing the typical local production. Since 2011, the company has opened a shop in the Susa's city centre, where it is possible to taste and buy not only the company's wines but also other typical Piedmont's wines' varieties.
